Dealing

Credit Repair - Dealing With Credit
Cards

The credit card is
one of the most widely used forms of credit in the world.
Millions of people hold credit cards as a means to buy what
they want now, while worrying about paying for it
later.
If you want to
minimize how much credit repair you
actually do, then pay attention to this article because this
has to do with prevention.
However, that
financial freedom comes at a price, making credit cards a
double-edged sword. Too often, people think of credit cards as
money they have, and when they buy something large, they forget
about the fact that they eventually need to pay it
off.
This is not free
mad money, it is money you are borrowing from someone to buy
something you want or need.
The first thing
you need to realize about credit cards, is how many you should
have. While it may seem better to have only one, this can
damage your credit because creditors may not think you have
enough established credit for the loan or credit you are
applying for.
However, on the
flip side, having four or more credit cards can be seen as bad
because it gives the impression that you are a compulsive
borrower. Therefore, try and have two to three credit cards on
your credit report.
Second, always
understand the importance of your available credit. Many people
will think that having a $10,000 credit limit is what creditors
care about, but in reality they will look at how much of that
credit limit you have used.
If you have used
$8,000 of the available credit, then you have had to use 80
percent of your available credit. This is far above what
creditors want on a credit report and it can lower your credit
rating significantly.
If you have $3,000
or less used on your credit limit, then it will look much more
favorable on your credit report. Generally, try to only have
less than 30 percent used credit on your credit card
limit.
Third, if you
cannot make all the payment on your credit card, then at least
make the minimum payment. The minimum payment will help keep
the interest from getting out of control, and it will keep the
credit card company happy.
However, you
should not rely on this completely. If you only make minimum
payments, and you keep spending on the card, you will only be
digging a deeper and deeper hole for
yourself.
Credit cards are
great to have throughout life. Getting a credit card helps to
establish your credit rating and history, it can help you get a
loan later on in life and it can help you get those things you
want or need to live a good quality of
life.
Sadly, many people
let them get out of control and they begin to fall down a debt
spiral as they struggle to pay off the credit card as the
interest mounts. Being smart with your credit cards will help
you stay out of a debt spiral in the future, and keep your good
credit rating intact.
The important
point is to remember that credit cards are not free money, and
moderation is key.
